South Windsor man arrested for DUI, hitting light pole - Newport Dispatch
SOUTH WINDSOR — A 33-year-old East Hartford man was arrested late Tuesday night on charges of operating under the influence and other offenses after crashing his vehicle into a light pole at Aldi’s Distribution Center.
At 11:21 p.m. on Oct. 22, South Windsor Police Department (SWPD) officers responded to the scene at 295 Rye Street where they found Carlos Barnes with his vehicle that had struck a light pole on the property.
Officers suspected Barnes was under the influence of alcohol after noticing his difficulty in standing, slurred speech, and discovering a half-empty bottle of tequila in his vehicle.
Barnes was uncooperative during the booking process following his arrest.
He was processed and held on a $25,000 surety bond.
Barnes is scheduled to be transported to Manchester Superior Court this morning for arraignment on charges that include operating under the influence, operating a motor vehicle without a license, and interfering with an officer/resisting arrest.
