DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan Police are searching for a driver who they say caused a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon.
The crash occurred at Third Avenue and East Selma Street intersection shortly after 12:00 p.m.
According to Dothan patrol officers on the scene, the driver of a Ford Taurus was traveling down Third Avenue when he hit another car, spun out, and smashed into a traffic light pole in the intersection, knocking it down.
Police and eyewitnesses tell WDHN the driver of the Ford Taurus attempted to continue driving down Third Avenue before exiting the car and fleeing on foot into the surrounding woods.
The driver of the second vehicle received non-life-threatening injuries, such as bruising, and was not transported to the hospital.
Traffic lights are down in the intersection.
Dothan Police are investigating and say there is an active search for the driver in the surrounding area.
