A 36-year-old Garden Grove cyclist was killed earlier this week when his dirt bike hit a street lamp pole and then a tree at the city limits of Santa Ana and Garden Grove.
After responding to the crash in which the man (identified as Richard Lawrence Odiorne) was fatally injured in the intersection of Westminster Avenue and Rosita Place, the GGPD notified Santa And police.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Odiorne was traveling eastbound on Westminster Avenue on his bike at around 9:40 p.m. Sunday, when the crashes occurred. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
It’s not known if alcohol or drugs played a part in the accident.
