Driver sent to hospital after striking light pole on Watertown road

A car ran into a pole in Watertown during the afternoon on Wednesday.

At approximately 3:40 P.M. Oct. 23, Watertown Fire Rescue was dispatched to a single vehicle incident involving a SUV that struck a light pole on Highway 212, in front of 1313 9th Ave. SW, according to a release.

Upon arrival, WFR crews found the vehicle in the north side ditch after it had traveled westbound at highway speeds before colliding with the pole. Paramedics immediately assessed the driver. The driver was later transported to Prairie Lakes Hospital for further evaluation, while the passenger did not require medical attention.

The Watertown Police Department, Municipal Utilities, and Active Towing helped with assistance during this incident.
