Oct 29, 2024

Officials have identified the man who died at a local hospital last week after a car crash in Northwest Boise.

A Boise Police Department investigation showed the motorist was driving east on East State Street on Oct. 21 when he veered off the road and hit a light pole at the southeast corner of the intersection with North Horseshoe Bend Road, the department said in a news release Monday.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office identified the victim later in the day as Lee Wallis, 52, of Boise.

Police said officers responded to the scene of the single-vehicle accident at about 9:40 p.m. and discovered that Wallis, the vehicle’s only occupant, had sustained life-threatening injuries. First responders took him to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

Wallis died at 2 p.m. Thursday at the hospital, according to the coroner’s office. Wallis’ cause of death was listed as blunt trauma and the manner of death as accidental.

The Boise Police Department is conducting an investigation into the incident.
