Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz announced great progress in the installation of LED lamps in the municipality. More than a dozen new street lights have been installed along one of Puerto Morelos’ main avenues.

On Avenida Joaquín Zetina Gasca, in a 15-block stretch of the Villas la Playa subdivision, 19 lights have been placed from Tlacuache Street to Delfín. Merari says approximately 850 linear meters is now lit.

“This was an old request from the residents since the street was paved more than five years ago by the National Fund for Tourism Development (Fonatur), but at that time, the lights were not installed,” she said.

Mayor Blanca Merari said they expect to install 1,500 street lamps which will be distributed throughout the municipality. The lights will be installed in Central Vallarta, Delirios, Leona Vicario and the tourist area of the Port.

The new lights will be placed by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE).

Blanca Merari reiterated that what is wanted is to have better quality light, efficient public lighting, attacking the issues of insecurity with safer streets. She reported around 15 million pesos have been invested in this area and that the scheme will continue throughout the new 2024-2027 administration.
